Lower Beechmont views are fantastic and will grab your attention as you climb higher…and Beechmont is a great climb to attack.
The lower Beechmont climb is a very popular and a very convenient training climb. (great for hill repeats)
It is a 6.5km climb and is very busy most mornings of the week.

Turn around: Bus stop at North Street intersection (RH side of road)
Best start time 5:00-6:00am
Start/Finish: Hard Coffee, Tedder Ave, Main Beach
Time allocation: 2.25 hrs (Av ride pace 30km’s/hr )
Description: A slow gradual rise to the base of the climb (some false flats) Speedy down hill return to Main Beach
Hazard: Traffic Build up on return to coastline
Hazard: Trade vehicles 5:30am – 6am traveling down the hill
Hazard: Car doors opening on to Cycle lanes
Remember this is a tourist region where people can become overly relaxed and lax on road rules. Typically everything flows very well with minimal cycling incidents

Note: If you see a group when out cycling and want to join it, always join from the rear and left hand side of the road, let them know you are there, most groups expect visitors to tag a long and are very helpful.
