Group Ride | Coffee | Central | Pace +35 & +40km /hr
Grab a Shark Experience on the Goldie
The Sharks are a long time unofficial cycling group who draw cyclists from most of the clubs and groups at the central to Northern end of the Coast. This is an imfamous if not iconic Gold Coast ride and will often include NRS riders looking for a leg loosener.
Notes
- Only join a Sharks ride if you are skilled at riding in larger groups – this is not for the novice or new riders
- Pace over Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Hill (2 sections) 500 mtrs section 5% + a small 8 % kicker at top will be 25 – 30 km/hr and this is where the group is very often split into 2 – 3 groups for the homeward leg.
- Pace returning home from Currumbin to Main Beach will be 40 – 55/60km/hr
- The Sharks ride is iconic GC and has a long informal ride history

TUESDAYS
- Start time 5:25 am
- Distance 65km’s
- Start @ Charis Seafood car park
- 5:40(ish)am group passes Main Beach Surf Club (South Bound lane).
- Turnaround is a loop through Currumbin Township past Wildlife Sanctuary and back over the small hill
- Note: normally 5 -10 riders will split off and turn back @ Burleigh car park for a shorter 40km ride option
- Both groups rejoin at Hard Coffee Cafe
- Pace generally 35 – 55 km/hr
FRIDAY
- Start time 5:25am
- Distance 45kms
- Start @ Charis Seafood carpark
- 5:40(ish)am group passes Main Beach Surf Club (South Bound lane).
- Ride Details: Labrador – Main Bch – Burleigh -return to ‘The Spit’…
- Hard Coffee Tedder Avenue, Main Beach. Note – group does not stop
- Note: group passes through Surfers Paradise(approx.5:50 am-ish) Broadbeach(approx 5:55 am-ish)
- Pace generally 35 – 55 km/hr
Sharks do ride Saturday’s
- Talk to Ant or Andrew via facebook or ask someone on the Tuesday /Friday rides
- Saturday Rides are typically closer to the 100km distance and almost always include some descent climbs to torture the big muscle groups
