2 on the Podium and a Series Win for the CATS
Despite finishing nightshift at 3.30 this morning, Kirsty Hearn (Women C) was determined to defend her white Leader’s jersey and go for the series win at Crestmead. Friends and family spurring her on, Kirsty made a solid solo attack on bell lap and had to dig deep for 3/4 of a lap. In the pain cave on the finishing straight, Kirsty finally greeted the chequered flag for the Race 3 win and the overall Series bragging rights.
In Women’s B, the CATS’ Jena Grimsey was driving it hard in a break of 3 mid-race. Unfortunately the break was caught. Jena survived various attacks and our sprinter finished 3rd in the bunch sprint for line honours.
Our fellas Sam Anderson (Elite A Campos Cycling Team) and Scott Day (MAS C Procella Sports team) also raced hard, covered attacks and did what they had to do. Club President Mark Gibbs also found himself in the pain cave when he bridged across on his own to get to the break in MAS B. No result for Mark or Darryl Cheel (MAS C) but they reported an exceptional day of racing.
